Hotel & Restaurant Haus am See

The location was great, the terrace by the lake was amazing for breakfast, and the restaurant’s kitchen and the relaxed vibe of the place were lovely. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the hotel could use some maintenance work; the carpet at the room entrance needs replacing. In our bathroom the fan didn’t work and there was no shower shampoo.

The hotel sits in a gorgeous spot by the lake. However, cleanliness was far from acceptable – cobwebs covered the walls, a used toothbrush was left in the nightstand, the bathroom was filthy with earwax, hair on the floor, dust on the shelves and even scratches inside the toilet bowl. The grounds around the hotel were neglected. At breakfast, clean coffee cups were nowhere to be found, the cucumbers had been sliced at least a day earlier and were already wilted.

The staff were friendly and engaged, and the lakeside location is great with a private beach entrance. However, the beds were completely sagging, a plastic shower curtain felt outdated, and there was no shower gel in the bathroom—despite toiletries being listed in the hotel description. The entire hotel feels worn out; the hallway carpet needs replacement. The breakfast selection was clear, but the value for money was poor.

Breakfast was pretty lackluster with a very limited selection and hardly any replenishment; by 08:30 on the second morning the buffet was almost empty, you had to ask for cups, and there was no fruit offered.

The lakeside location was quiet, yet the shower head needed descaling and the shower curtain should be replaced. No shower gel was provided, the furnishings were a bit dated, and breakfast did not meet expectations. The price‑to‑quality ratio is off, so we won’t book here again.
