The house had everything you need, a very nice kitchen with all the appliances, and the owner was friendly and responded to all our requests. A beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers was in the living room, and the towels were nice and soft. However, the overall experience was not good: the house was very dark and old, not very clean, with dusty curtains and carpets. The patio was dirty and the braai grid had old meat stuck to it. Kitchen blinds were yellow, wooden windows were full of cobwebs. The description mentioned air conditioning and four bathrooms, but upstairs the two bedrooms shared a small bathroom that my son could barely stand in. The upstairs beds were old, squeaky, and needed new springs. The main bedroom had no air conditioning; it had a big bed but smelled of bats, and the curtains around the four‑poster bed were stuffy and musty. Every cupboard had old blankets or sheets. The house could be comfortable and cosy, but it is really overpriced; similar accommodations on nearby wine farms are much cheaper. For over R3000 per night you expect more. With a bit of renovating, paint, and cleaning, the house could return to its former glory.

“As rustic goes it does not come better than this.”

I found the place rustic but functional, with a well-equipped kitchen. The braai was a bit underwhelming and didn’t include any braai wood.
