The location is convenient for visiting Banten Lama and the old fishing harbor in the north, plus it’s close to Mall of Serang; the staff are friendly and the garden with the pool is beautiful, but the furniture and bathrooms need replacing, they’re very dated and worn, which is a pity because the hotel has potential for a better rating; the price/quality ratio is adequate.

I liked that the hotel sits right in the centre of Serang and is close to the highway for easy trips to Jakarta, with a bustling market nearby where you can eat or shop, and a taxi between Jakarta and Serang takes about 90 minutes and costs roughly 20 Euro or 400 000 IDR, making it a handy spot for conferences, meetings and weddings. The building itself is about twenty years old and could do with a refresh; they mainly cater to Asian guests, which is fine, but Western visitors tend to expect a higher standard.
