“Perfect for a lovely break in the Peak District.”
Everything was great – the staff, the room, the food and the location were all loved.

The team was very welcoming, the rooms, bar and restaurant had beautiful décor, and we even got a sweet anniversary gift. The only downside was that the room was a bit warm.

The location was fine, but some details could be improved: the toilet roll holder was behind the toilet, there was no chair in the room, the kettle didn’t fit under the tap, and there were many stairs to reach the room.

The Chateaubriand at dinner was superb, but breakfast was disappointing unless you want a full English – the croissants were cold, stale, soggy, and the granola came with heavy yogurt. An extra fee was needed for a cappuccino, and one morning I waited half an hour for crushed avocado and had to ask a staff member what happened; I was offered a free cup of coffee. A self‑serve buffet style breakfast would be better. In my first room I discovered that the glass shower door lacked a seal at the bottom, almost causing a flood. The staff were excellent and upgraded me to a better room, handling all issues with professionalism and courtesy.

The beds were comfy and there was plenty of hot water for showers or baths, plus the place was clean. Breakfast was disappointing – only one item from the menu, and if you wanted muffins or eggs you had to pay extra for cereals or fruit, while latte was a paid speciality coffee. The dinner was pricey and bland. We stayed in a room that had a big party next door, which made us feel uneasy. The bathtub was chipped, and the hotel felt cold, so we had to wear a jumper for both breakfast and dinner. Our room faced the road and was very noisy.
