The room looked worn out, contrary to the clean, modern golf‑resort images online, and it was located at the end of a long corridor right next to a noisy motorway.

The facilities were acceptable, but the staff weren’t the friendliest or most helpful; they seemed quite snobbish and we didn’t feel welcome, with dismissive answers to our questions. Because I’m not from the UK and didn’t have a car, getting a cab to and from the hotel, as well as reaching a local supermarket or arranging deliveries, was a real hassle.
