There was no breakfast, and the place I stayed—Bedrock—was at a different address than the one listed, while I had paid for Strand Hotel at yet another address; the facilities and the charges were wildly mismatched. I had chosen Strand Hotel over Bedrock because I expected a certain standard, but it turned out to be the same venue with different rates, and the service from both was absolutely poor and seemed fraudulent.

I paid R90.00 for parking, the gate bell was broken, the bathroom smelled awful, and they check bedding for stains when you leave but not when you arrive; overall, customer care was lacking and it was a total disaster—I won’t stay here again.

Breakfast was not provided, and the bed furniture looked ancient, while the shower was flooding and the plumbing system clearly needs repair.

The room was beautiful and spacious, and the price was justified, especially since the hotel is only a 2‑minute walk from the beach, which makes it highly recommendable; however, there were many ants in the room, which made it difficult to keep food stored.
