“Excellent VFM and Highly Recommended”

The staff were super friendly, there was plenty of parking, the room was comfortable, and overall the value for money was excellent. I’d come back and highly recommend it. The only minor gripe was that the room could have had a few more coffee bags and milk, though I’m sure I’d have gotten some if I’d asked at reception.

I liked that the restaurant was downstairs, but the shower curtain was missing and there was no toilet brush.

“Disappointed”

The reception staff gave a nice welcome, the bar staff were friendly and attentive, and the live music and buzz in the bar were great—something you wouldn’t hear in the bedroom. Hot water was good and the extra heater was very useful. The décor was tired throughout, the room was cold when we arrived, and the windows let in cold air. The lampshade was dirty and dusty, and the room looked scruffy. There was no milk in the coffee/tea tray. The breakfast staff weren’t very welcoming or diligent; they didn’t keep the crockery or food topped up on the self‑serve station even though more guests arrived. The breakfast itself was disappointing—there were no nice yogurts, honey, or fresh fruit. The staff seemed unprofessional, the main breakfast tasted cheap, and the ingredients felt subpar compared to another hotel I’ve stayed at that’s also owned by the same chain. The pillows were uncomfortable.

The staff really went the extra mile to help my daughter find vegan and gluten‑free options, even arranging a special meal from what they had on hand that wasn’t on the menu. They could improve by keeping individual ingredients in stock so guests can build a meal themselves, like some big pub chains already do.

“Fantastic value, great location - highly recommend”

This hotel turned out to be fantastic and surprisingly charming, with a village vibe even though it’s about 10 minutes off the M42, close to Birmingham airport and the Motorcycle Museum. I arrived Friday night and the pub downstairs was lively, yet the rooms upstairs were so quiet you’d never know. The staff were lovely and the food great – I dined on the current game festival menu, and the regular menu looked just as good. I was annoyed that I couldn’t add all meals to a single bill at departure; instead I got a breakfast bill while I was still eating in the restaurant.
