“Comfort and calm - we will stay again !”
We stayed there for a July/August summer holiday, a 5‑day trip that included horse riding and a chance to see a new part of Czechia. The Statek was almost perfect for our family: it stayed cool in the heat, had comfortable beds, a lovely bath and shower, and the nearby town had a basic co‑op store that was fine for us. A little further out, Polna had a large supermarket and was also very interesting to visit. While we were there, a saints day festival took place. Having a clothes washing machine was a big bonus—if you’re touring and need to freshen up clothes during long stays, it’s essential. Adding sport made it even better. The garden was wonderful—enclosed on three sides by the old farm and with a lake on the fourth side, it felt like staying in a Skansen. The owners supplied a great BBQ and the wood we needed, so one night we used it for a fantastic supper. Despite the lake, we had no mosquito problems. All day it was quiet, a perfect spot for a sun‑lounger and a book. Nearby rivers let you swim and raft, and there were also great castles. Two excellent riding spots were close by: a dairy farm offering western riding run by the owners’ relatives, and a large, more formal riding club with top‑tier coaching (the chief is a top dressage rider) that also offers country rides. The only downside was that the well‑equipped kitchen has no hot water, so washing up is a chore as you have to boil a few kettles of water.
