The location: walking distance to Village Grocer supermarket, excellent restaurants especially Japanese and a good Malaysian foodcourt. It was kept clean by the efficient onsite staff. It has a drinking water dispenser, comfortable beds, ensuite Asian-style bathroom. There are 2 ironing boards with irons in the upstairs hall. There’s a large fridge where guests can keep labels food. It was easy to communicate with the offsite manager. There’s a snack/drink dispensing unit in the cool lobby on the first floor. I recommend Luna. The fact that there’s no pool is reflected in the low price. The larger (visually more elegant) rooms are downstairs and two front the busy road, so I asked to change to the back - upstairs to a smaller but very quiet room where I happily spent a week. As I always stay in Penang a month or two and am a budget traveller, I alternate accommodation between more expensive places with pool and less expensive with no pool. This works well for me, so I’ll definitely be back to Luna

The folks running the place, especially Jeana, were great to talk to and answered every question I had. Checking in and out was a breeze. The Wi‑Fi worked well and the hot water system was reliable. The spot is excellent and the building itself is fascinating. A big plus was how they tried to keep noise down after 10 pm. On the downside, the bathroom could use a better exhaust fan to fight mold and improve soundproofing, and a sound‑proofing solution for the room—like foam rollers under the doors—would be handy.
