Hotel North Pole

“Great staff, good breakfast, close to Fairbanks, not far from Chena Hot Springs.”

The staff were very friendly. I left a bathing suit in the room and they called me to tell me they would mail it. Breakfast was very good and I enjoyed the coffee. The location is convenient, near Safeway, Starbucks, restaurants, and Santa Claus Lane. The room was spacious and had a kitchenette, which was nice. The price was fair for a last‑minute booking. We drove to Chena Hot Springs, which was a straight shot from the North Pole. Highly recommend the hot springs. The hotel is also close to Fairbanks. The hotel feels a bit dated; the rooms were plain and the view from the room was the parking lot. I didn’t like the smell of the air freshener, which was like a nauseating Febreze. It would be better if it smelled like Christmas.

“Clean and quiet.”

The hotel was clean and nice, but it didn’t live up to the “North Pole” theme we expected; all the pictures showed a heavily decorated Christmas vibe, yet when we arrived the only festive touch was a few figurines around the fireplace, which was a let‑down and the main reason we chose the place.

“Too expensive to be ran out of there before our time was up. Won’t be back!”

The location was great, and checking in was smooth with the braided‑beard guy who seemed like a native Texan, but the short dark‑haired staff member this morning was a different story. My reservation listed 11:00 am as check‑out, yet at 10:40 am we were packing when someone started pounding on our door. I pointed out the “Do Not Disturb” sign, but the front desk guy opened the door and shouted we had 15 minutes to leave. My 17‑year‑old daughter and 19‑year‑old son were still in the room, possibly changing clothes, and I was shocked enough to have them pack and drive to the car. At 10:47 am I asked the front desk what the check‑out time was, and he confirmed 11:00 am. When I asked why he’d opened the door, he said it was hotel policy, that he’d called us twice on the room phone with no answer, and that the policy was the issue. I mentioned that anyone could have been changing, especially my daughter, and that it was 10:40 am. He yelled that if we didn’t like the policy we could leave and pointed to the door. When I asked his name he yelled “leave right now” as if I was in the wrong. I don’t understand why there was such urgency to get us out when hardly any other guests were around, and now I know why.

Everything was pretty good overall; it was pricey, but that’s typical for Alaska accommodation.

“Lovely hotel”

The hotel was lovely, with plenty of communal lounge nooks and a decent breakfast, but more patio furniture in summer would be nice when the sun is bright on the one side of the building.
