The street to the camp was a nightmare – the usual road ended abruptly, leaving a long detour over a gravel path riddled with potholes, making the drive far longer than expected.

The bed was comfortable, the blanket warm and cozy, and the small heater did a great job; it rained during the stay and it was nice to sleep to the sound of rain without it affecting us. The bathrooms were dirty in the morning, and water seeped into the floor at one end of the tent; when I pointed it out they said I was lucky that the whole tent didn't flood.

The location near the Grand Canyon is great, just over half an hour drive, and you can enjoy the starry sky at night if the weather clears. Parking your car next to the tent is possible, but keep in mind the off‑road path to the campground. The showers are a disappointment: you have to yank a rope to get any water at all, and it's cold and dirty. One evening we had rain, yet the tents were so worn that the canvas let water through; we had to lay extra blankets and towels on the bed to stay as dry as possible. The next morning, parts of the tent and floor were still wet (see photos of puddles inside). We paid $100 per night for cold showers and a leaking tent – definitely not recommended.

With everything going on at the Canyon, tragic flood, no water, waterline busted, and prices for up there anyway- I simply needed a bed to sleep in after my event at the Kolb Studio. This price was a good deal. I lucked out, getting to the camp a bit early and chatting with Ricky the caretaker filling propane at the time. He shared that there'd be coffee in the morning, too late for me at 830a, something I was told in emails was NOT available- only hot water for tea and hot chocolate. The distance, bumpy, pitted and horribly dusty road getting to the site. My 4 Runner was ok; it would've been really rough with my wife's Camry, even more so or possibly impassable in a rainstorm where the road dips steeply into high desert washes. They cover themselves stating "rain or shine" for reservations, but I could see challenges for the unaware of just how bad it gets in AZ. And there were several sedans, small SUVs at campsites when I left. Being the 1st in line down the road helps too, otherwise you're coating your vehicle even worse and inhaling dust, trying to see the road with vehicles ahead of you churning it up. I never used the shower so no opinion there. The toilets though? I walked over at 3am, of the 4 little combo rooms for sink, toilet and shower: only 2 had toilet paper and paper towels

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The bedding was comfortable, clean, and warm blankets were provided. The location was perfect for a Grand Canyon excursion. Nothing negative.
