The room was spotless and the AC worked great, and it’s only a short walk from Malecon, the beach, and restaurants. The ferry from mainland Puerto Rico is cheap, and taxis from the ferry to the area aren’t pricey either. I didn’t remember if there was Wi‑Fi, but there was no TV, which was fine for a quick overnight stay during a local event. The only downside was the lack of a TV or a full‑length mirror.

The place is well situated, but it was dirty and we had to ask for a broom and dustpan to sweep the floor. The blanket had stains, there were cockroaches, and the noise level was high because a bar next to the hotel played loud music until the early morning. Two motorcycles passed by the same spot all night during both nights we stayed.

This is my second stay at the Waterside Inn, and we’re planning to return. We really enjoy the location and the rooms at this hotel.

This small hotel in a fantastic spot is clean and simple, and the rooms are in good shape. It’s ideal for a short stay in Vieques where you’re not in the room for long. The double‑bed room had an en‑suite bathroom and the staff communicated well. My kids were upset that the bunk‑bed room had no TV and that they had to leave the room to shower and use the toilet. My son also complained that the shower closest to their room (there are three outside showers and two outside toilets) would shift the shower head when he adjusted the temperature. I didn’t mind the outside bathrooms because it reduced conflicts over how long someone stayed in the toilet. It was quiet during the two weeknights we were there, but I’m not sure how loud it would get on a weekend, especially since the hotel is right behind a bar.
