The spot is decent in the heart of town, easy to walk around, but I had to rent a scooter to hit Charly Beach for sunsets because you can’t swim in front of the hotel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. I won’t come back to this island for one reason only: if you’re a Brigitte Bardot‑type like me, it’s not the place because there are a lot of dogs that fight at night. I couldn’t sleep, even though we booked 5 nights. The dogs were starving, and one morning a dog was drowning while a boat passed by without a word and locals didn’t intervene. I had to run into the water to rescue a young female, feed her, and give her water because she couldn’t stand. Having been to Thailand many times, I’ve never seen this. Usually people love animals, but here it’s not the case and the dogs stay in front of the lodging, so I didn’t eat much during my stay because I had to bring food for the dogs. It’s impossible to eat in front of hungry animals that get nothing. They’re not mean.
