“Prima verblijf voor een nachtje”
The hotel is close to the station heading to Galle, has a nice veranda and garden, and the owner is friendly and modest (speaks limited English). You can tell her your breakfast wishes the night before. The Wi‑Fi sometimes went out because of a power outage.
“Peaceful tropical stay with warm hospitality, great food, and a beautiful garden!”
I can’t say enough about my two‑week stay at Onisula Guesthouse. It was a peaceful, unforgettable experience surrounded by nature, with warm hospitality and some of the best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the overhead fan powerful, and the view of tropical plants outside was beautiful. Breakfast every morning was delicious and probably the best food I ate in Sri Lanka. The private garden was gorgeous with lush trees, a cozy seating area, and a hammock with a fan that let me truly unwind. I spent many afternoons watching monkeys, mongooses, and colorful birds from the hammock. The location is ideal: quiet, just off the main road, but within walking distance of lively hostels with regular events, great restaurants, and one of the best beaches on the South Coast for surfing at Lazy Left and Lazy Right. Yoga classes were also within walking distance. Onisula Guesthouse offered helpful services that made the stay even better. I used the scooter rental, laundry, and dinner service. The scooter was in excellent condition, well‑maintained, and came with good helmets, making it easy to explore Ahangama and nearby beaches. Laundry was quick, clean, well priced, and always returned neatly folded with a pleasant floral scent. On my last night, I had chicken fried rice in the garden while watching monkeys move through the trees, which was the perfect way to end my stay. Again, excellent quality at a fair price. By the end of my stay, I had not only enjoyed the guesthouse but also become friends with Samantha and Piyumi, the owners, whom I hope to visit again. If you’re still reading this, book Onisula Guesthouse. You won’t regret it!
Wow, what a great place! The owners are super friendly, the breakfast is delicious, and the room is clean and spacious. If you sit in the garden you can enjoy the monkeys, birds, and squirrels around you. Oh, and there’s a cute cat! A real recommendation if you want to stay in Midigama.
We stayed at Onisula Guest House for two nights and it was a very nice way to finish our trip in Sri Lanka. It’s a quiet place, but close to cafés, restaurants, and the beach, and if you want to go to Ahangama or Weligama for a day it’s also perfect. The people there are very welcoming and helpful. We wanted to leave for the airport at 11 pm and it was absolutely no problem to leave our bags there, use our room all day, and shower before we left. So if you don’t want to stay in the very touristy spots but want to be there quickly, this place is perfect. Nothing negative.
The location is perfect! Just a couple of minutes to the beach but far enough to be away from the street and the railway tracks. The garden is beautiful and looks like a little oasis. I stayed here with my friend and the family was so welcoming, invited us to lunch and made sure we felt comfy! Looking forward to coming back!!
