The host was very friendly. The room had many insects (mosquitoes, cockroaches, etc.), and we fought bugs all night; even when sleeping, insects fell from the ceiling onto the bed. The hot water flow was small, there was no hair dryer, and ladies need to consider that.

I stayed right next to Katharagama Dewalaya, and the jungle feel was spot-on with complete silence from nature. The place was spotless and well kept, and the owner, his wife, and the caretaker were all super friendly and helpful. Definitely the best spot to stay in Katharagama.

The villa is conveniently near Yala National Park, and the owner greets you warmly. The air‑conditioner was a pain – it made the room too cold, and when I switched it off it got scorching hot, so I had to toggle it on and off a lot, ruining my sleep. If you need Wi‑Fi, you’ll have to pay extra.

The place is basic but offers great value for money and sits perfectly for safari trips. Kapila guided our safari expertly and was very pleasant, helping us spot two leopards and a host of other animals that he described in detail. I would definitely recommend it.

Our room was roomy and opened onto a lovely patio, and even though we arrived very late at night the owner waited for us. We woke up at dawn for a self‑organized safari and, looking back, I would have booked directly through him after reading the glowing reviews. We only stayed one night, but I’d return for his helpfulness and kindness.
