We loved our stay at Buller's Rest Lodge. The suite we booked was well furnished in a more modern style, and the shower and bath were clean and well appointed. Everything about the room was lovely. Breakfast was excellent, and I can easily say I had the best roasted tomato of my life! The breakfast staff were also very friendly and helpful. We wished we had stayed longer! Everything was wonderful.

Everyone was very friendly, but the pillows had an unpleasant odor.

The architecture is stunning and the view of Ladysmith is wonderful; as a military historian, it was the ideal base for visiting Anglo‑Boer war sites, and all the paraphernalia and photos were fascinating. The staff—Nadine, the kitchen crew, and the housekeeping team—were all fantastic, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast was great and the rooms were very comfortable, though the dim lighting at the bar and in the adjoining room made it hard for an old man like me to read; otherwise, nothing to complain about.
