It’s an amazing place, slightly haunted by its proximity to Femagusta, which is why I brought my family to see what happened 50 years ago and learn about the island’s history. The management was terrible—everything else went fine until the last night when we had one appalling meal. We were the only people in the restaurant, it took an hour to bring the food, and by then we were starving at 11 o’clock. The salmon salad was inedible, I got a cold main, and another dish that was supposed to be ribs turned out not to be ribs; only 2 out of 5 meals were okay. They removed the salad from the bill, and I couldn’t understand how that happened. I tried to take a couple of glasses of wine off the bill, but they refused because we’d already eaten. I didn’t sign the ticket, complained to the manager the next day at check‑out, but they wouldn’t budge—awful customer service that made me not want to return. For 10–15 euros they could have made me happy after spending thousands over our stay. There’s a word for the manager I won’t use. If you don’t get good service or good food, complain and stand your ground, it ruins a nice stay.
