Hotel Sugicho

The hotel is wonderful with rooms in Japanese style. It’s close to the town hall and a very pretty riverside. You can also walk to Gion. There are good restaurants nearby. The staff are very attentive. I left a pearl pendant in Hakuone at another hotel and asked for help to contact colleagues and, if possible, send it to Kyoto directly to the hotel, and they helped me. Thank you very much. The room was beautiful and clean. Cleaning is available daily at your request. Breakfasts here are tasty and varied. There is a fantastic onsen. I rested wonderfully here. The sensor‑controlled lift that lets you avoid touching the button is cool.

The location is decent in a nice neighbourhood. There was a lot of mould in the A/C.

The location was very good. The room was relatively large for what is typical in Japan. You can walk around the hotel in shoes, except for the onsen and the room, where tatami means you have to be barefoot. The onsen was pretty good, with excellent body care products and good hair dryers. Sleeping on a futon is something to try, but it is nowhere near the comfort of a bed, especially the pillows. Breakfast was repetitive and very limited in options. We don’t know if there was another type of breakfast that could be contracted or more expensive, but the Japanese had a different breakfast, much more complete and wide, they brought it to the table and served it directly.
