“An excellent choice when visiting Malta”

The apartment was stylish and beautiful, sitting right in the island’s center with a terrace that offered an almost 270‑degree view; planes flew by frequently, which was fascinating to watch. Inside, the space (excluding the terrace) was modest but comfortable for the three of us. Everything we needed was there, even an adapter, and we only used the dishwasher twice because we didn’t have many dishes. The neighbors were quiet, so we barely heard them. Communication with the hosts was smooth, and they responded quickly to any missing items. Parking on the street is free, but after 7 p.m. it can sometimes be hard to find an empty spot. There’s a small bird yard next to the house, and the roosters start crowing around 4 a.m.; it would help if the house rules about cleaning, trash, and dishes were clarified before booking. For shopping you’ll need a car.

The property itself is beautiful, but don’t be fooled—the owner is dishonest and unprofessional. We paid a €100 deposit and an €80 cleaning fee, only to be told at checkout that our deposit wouldn’t be returned because the apartment was supposedly left in an “unacceptable” condition. What exactly was “unacceptable”? 1. The door was left open for about an hour before checkout, and a few leaves blew inside. 2. The bedsheets were dirty, which is completely normal after a stay and exactly what the cleaning fee is for. All garbage was taken out, and the apartment was left tidy. On top of that, we paid for the entire apartment, yet every room except the bedroom was locked. When I asked the owner about it, she claimed this was “in the description.” When I asked her to show me where—she stopped replying altogether. It’s clear the owner is trying to keep deposits on weak excuses and profit from inflated cleaning fees. The cleaner is probably paid €30 at most, while the owner pockets the rest. If you value honesty and transparency, avoid this property at all costs.
