We were greeted warmly despite the short‑notice booking. The building looked uninviting from the outside, with neglected grounds and a lot of weeds, and the interior was no better. We stayed in apartment 8. The kitchen furniture was quite old, the kitchenette was haphazard, a dishcloth was missing, and the bathroom seemed to be from the 1980s. The mattresses were hard and caused back pain. Toothbrushes had to be taken to the bedroom. On the double bed the mattresses were either too low or the headboards too high, making it painful to lie down or get up. Spiders were everywhere— in the bedroom sink, in the corners, on the lower floor bed, and in the hallway in front of our apartment. The hallway was never swept or mopped, let alone have the spider webs removed, even though it is a passageway used daily. We only saw the hosts once, upon arrival. The whole house is extremely noisy, and if we hadn’t urgently needed accommodation at short notice, we would not have booked.
