Comfort Inn & Suites Rapid City near Mt Rushmore

“Average, would not go back.”

It was, ok. That is it. The man at the desk when we arrived wore a T‑shirt that seemed to come straight from yesterday’s laundry bag, untucked. The elevator didn’t work in the morning and I, 76, had to haul my bags and a cooler down the stairs. Not happy.

“Served the purpose for our early flight.”

We didn’t have breakfast. Roof repairs were being done directly over our room. It sounded like a bowling alley.

“Affordable, fine night's stay”

We got in late and left early, so we didn’t experience much of the hotel, but it was comfortable enough if not overwhelming. I would like to shout out the front desk employee at the other Comfort Inn & Suites in Rapid City who immediately realized what had happened and directed us to this location.

The hotel was well located, the room was a typical American style, and there was a large parking lot in front of the hotel. The elevator, pool with a big slide, the pool was at a good temperature (29 °C) and the spa was hot (39 °C). The room price was very high because of Sturgis, the staff were moderately welcoming, the window was poorly insulated against outside noise, breakfast was average (usual in the USA), the room was OK but not super clean, the hotel is already a few years old and that shows.

“Fine for one night. NOT downtown! Had to Uber to go anywhere so be careful.”

Clean and comfortable, the usual for breakfast. No one was available at the front desk because he had a maintenance job to do, but he was super nice when he finally appeared. Not his fault. The elevator was broken when we woke up, so we had to use the stairs from the 3rd floor. Not sure what happened with anyone ADA. The smell of cleaning products is super strong and smells very chemical.
