“The worst hotel experience, EVER!”
The doormen were always pleasant and attentive. Although we had arranged airport transfer well in advance, no one was there to greet us. When we called the number from the concierge, the person who answered asked for our location, which made us feel uneasy because we were in an unfamiliar country and had already given those details. To reduce risk, we ended up taking an authorised airport taxi. We also had a serious problem getting water: after my husband asked for it, we were told—after Carlos spoke in Spanish to his colleague at the front desk—that the hotel had “run out,” which was clearly false and unacceptable for a 5‑star property. The interaction was undoubtedly racist. (We eventually bought water at a local supermarket, which was necessary for medication). After filing a complaint with management, nothing changed. On our last night the toilet stopped working, adding to an already disappointing stay. We have travelled widely and stayed in hotels worldwide where service and facilities were exceptional. In contrast, our experience at the Bristol Panama was far below standard, and the surrounding area was noticeably run down. Based on these experiences, I would not recommend this hotel.
