Directly on the Rhine, a traditional house with a fresh atmosphere. Everything pleased our travel group.

“We loved it so much we are planning to bring our family back with us in six months.”

The hotel was spotless! Breakfast had many options and the restaurant served excellent food and great wine. The location was beautiful and only a 5 minute walk from the train station or downtown. The VRM guest pass for trains and buses saved us a lot on local transport. Definitely take the Sesselbahn to see the Rhine view, but I’d suggest taking it both ways unless you’re up for a very steep descent. We did it in our sixties, it was steep and the risk of falling was non‑trivial. Also seriously visit Burg Eltz; it’s a bit of a hike, but it looks like a castle from any movie. Plan your route to Burg Eltz carefully; the VRM pass makes train and bus free, but we had to transfer four times due to rail construction, making the trip four hours each way. The Rhine valley is full of beautiful scenery, churches, castles, and history. It definitely exceeded our expectations and the Hotel Baudobriga was the perfect place to stay. The only caution is to be careful hiking down from the Sesselbahn in Boppard—it’s steep—and to consider how to get to Burg Eltz carefully. Finally, watch water levels; we were there in early October after a severe drought and couldn’t do a boat tour, which didn’t disappoint us that much.

“Fine but the shower door needs sorting.”

Typical Germany, no issues everywhere fine. The lady at reception spoke English and we would happily go back again. The shower door in our bathroom leaked.
