“Run down but cheery”

The room was large, comfy, airy, and had a big bed; check‑in was very friendly and the vibe great. Big windows and a pleasing colour scheme made it visually appealing, and the price was very affordable with a great location. On the downside, there’s no restaurant, breakfast, or lift. Friends who stayed here mentioned everything has been temporarily closed for quite some time. The car‑park entrance is EXTREMELY narrow, causing long lines; wider vehicles park outside instead. The car‑park locks at 10 pm, so when I booked to go out at night in Newport I couldn’t take my car back! Returning late, a group gathered by the front door, which was a bit surprising. The room wasn’t the cleanest (not dirty, just dusty), a few items were broken or poorly arranged, and the mattress felt old.

“Would i stay here again”

The bed was comfortable, and tea, coffee, biscuits, two hand towels, and large towels were provided—just for me. The TV didn’t work; I spoke to reception, but nobody came. The lift also seemed inoperable. When I removed my phone charger, I found the skirting boards very dusty, and the road noise was annoying.

The room was lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I liked that a microwave was in the room, giving more food options while we stayed. One maid refused to change the bed, and it took several days before we received more coffee, clean sheets, and clean towels. Another maid told us this was unacceptable and that the room should have been cleaned daily unless we said otherwise. The only shortfall was the TV: very old, no Freeview, no app access—very old‑fashioned.

The rooms were big and the bedding clean. Nothing else to note.

Mr. Samy, a hotel staff member, was very guest‑friendly and went out of his way to help us with the lift issue, which was temporarily out of order. We all appreciated his effort.
