“Wonderful place to be.”
We received a very warm welcome from Travis and his team, but we only booked one night and would have liked to stay longer.

Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge, 50 km from Solitaire, offers African‑style granite‑built bungalows perched on Namib Desert riverbeds and slopes, each with a private terrace, air‑conditioning, and stone‑slate floors. Guests sip cocktails under a thatched lapa beside a large pool, explore rock‑painting tours, hiking trails, and enjoy a restaurant serving à‑la‑carte or 3‑course meals. A private landing strip connects to Windhoek and Swakopmund.

It was a dream, and we struggled to leave.

Everything was absolutely fantastic. It’s hard to describe how great it is; you feel like a friend, the scenery is beyond words, and the lodge itself is amazing. We only had one night and couldn’t even begin to enjoy what the lodge has to offer.

Simply perfect. The rooms are a real marvel, service—especially Travis—is unbeatable, the location is ideal, the pool, surroundings, and the overall peace are all fantastic, and dinner… the only regret is not staying more than one night. The only thing I’d improve is breakfast: with so few rooms, it should be a full à la carte menu with pastries, hot dishes, and everything on the spot (now it’s just eggs). It’s a small tweak; the breakfast isn’t bad at all.

The hotel feels like a hidden gem of designer pieces right in the desert after a full renovation. The staff speak German, are very accommodating, offered useful tips for our next stops, and were genuinely friendly. The surrounding trails are well marked, so getting lost isn’t an issue. As a vegetarian, the menu offers a wide selection. The silence around the hotel, especially at night, is indescribable. I’d recommend staying three or four nights instead of just two.
