“Overall great base to explore Sth Cornwall”
The spot is great, right across St Michael’s Mt, but the place feels a bit old.

We were told we could park for free when we booked and by the front‑desk staff. We had three rooms and two cars, and the staff directed us to the exclusive hotel parking area, saying both car plates were recorded. No one mentioned any possible charges. After checking out we were hit with a £40 penalty. The picture we saw implied we hadn’t paid for public parking, which we were told was included in the room rate. The hotel then replied that rooms booked via their website are free, but not for other bookings. We would have paid £14 to the car park if the staff had informed us. Now we owe £80 in penalties because of misleading information from hotel staff—unbelievable.

The family room was very pretty with a stunning view of St. Michaels Mount, and the continental breakfast buffet was excellent; dinner was also very fine. The hotel has a somewhat dusty charm that could use a refresh—especially the room, which feels very conservative with its rugs and dark décor.

The location was great, the staff were helpful, the food was good, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We weren’t told, and weren’t even asked, that free parking was only for guests who book direct; everyone else must use paid public parking. The hotel has 11 rooms and 11 marked reserved spaces, so there’s no need to mention the discrimination between booking methods. It’s odd that it’s mentioned at all.
