“Excellent location & beautiful garden with lots of family restaurants nearby”

We loved Monarathanna and even added a few extra nights. The grounds are huge, beautiful, and well kept. We saw peacocks, mongooses, ground squirrels, monkeys (as expected) and many birds in the garden. The spot is ideal—just a 5‑minute walk to the beach and the beachfront breakfast spot, and the nearest restaurants are a 2‑minute stroll away with more options nearby. We stayed in a triple room on the third floor and had everything we needed—a kettle, a fridge on request, and air conditioning that worked well. Wi‑Fi was solid, and both the staff and manager were very helpful. Definitely coming back.

“The property description is misleading and inaccurate. It would have been value for money at a quarter of the price.”

The place was clean and had air conditioning, but it didn’t match the listing’s promise of a ‘3 star hotel experience’ – it’s far from that. It’s just a very basic house with several rooms, no facilities or common areas, and the staff barely speak English, making communication tough. Breakfast is available, but it’s at a café 10 minutes away – that wasn’t mentioned beforehand and is a big problem when traveling with kids; had we known, we wouldn’t have booked. At first there was no hot water, though that was later fixed. There was no Wi‑Fi on arrival; we had to request it. The curtain rails were insecure and kept falling, once hitting my child’s head while sleeping. The AC leaked into the room, the open windows lacked mosquito nets, and we asked for an extra pillow several times but never received one.
