“Lovely staff but not what we expected”
The hotel sits right on the District and Piccadilly lines in Earl's Court, just a short walk away. Kensington Gardens and the Palace are also manageable on foot, with a nice stroll through some mews along the way. Breakfast was good, and the person who ran it was accommodating. They do charge extra for eggs or other breakfast items, but we managed with what was offered, which was plentiful. The beds were comfortable and I appreciated the air conditioning. However, be warned that if you need a walk‑in shower, you might end up in the basement, which felt dark and had a smell of disuse. This wasn’t mentioned when we booked; if we’d known, we would have chosen another place. The hotel shows its age and needs refurbishments. The room we stayed in required attention to detail—cleaning the ceiling, replacing the cracked sink, and updating the furniture. Even though the staff, including those at the front desk, were lovely and very accommodating, the overall condition doesn’t justify the amount of money paid.
