The lack of air conditioning is a widespread issue in German hotels, and this place was no exception; when the weather was hot and muggy during our visit, the room felt noticeably uncomfortable.

The breakfast buffet was extensive and well‑made. The setting is ideal for day trips around the area, and the surroundings are quiet enough to start hikes straight from the hotel. Dining at the hotel restaurant is superb, and the staff are courteous and pleasant. Plenty of free parking is available. The only drawback is that the shower entrance in the bathroom is a bit awkward because of the partition wall, but it isn’t a major issue.

We booked the hotel for three nights. It’s wonderfully close to nature yet you can reach places like Bielefeld or Detmold quickly. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the trout Müllerin served in the evening was spot‑on and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. The weather left something to be desired for bike rides, but that’s beyond the hotel’s control.
