I booked a one‑night stay the day before, but the morning I was told the owners weren’t in the guesthouse and wouldn’t be, and that I should cancel. I did cancel, yet the booking still listed the weekend as available, which misled travelers; luckily the lodging inventory was large enough that we found another place. The cancellation was free.

The Maramures region is a beautiful sea of wonder. Staying at Cabana Florus, we were greeted by very friendly hosts who offered us a palinka and a strong coffee. As locals, they gave us valuable tips on what to see beyond our original plans, and they were right.
