“Kein 5 Sterne Hotel”
The staff are friendly and helpful, and although the hotel is supposed to be 5‑star, the guests feel more middle‑class; it’s not frowned upon if a child is a bit loud at the evening table or if a utensil falls from the table, unlike a snob who studies etiquette too intensely. The beach is nice and only 5 minutes on foot away. However, we booked a 5‑star hotel but received a 3‑star one. At first glance everything looked pretty, but in room 528—unmarked because the signs only go up to 527—the fridge was broken and the described bar fridge was empty and never refilled after 4 days. The shower tiles were moldy, the shower head rod was loose, hard‑to‑reach corners such as behind the toilet or under the bed were never cleaned even after several days, the carpet had many dirt spots, and the lampshade had spider webs. It may sound pedantic, but having different curtain lengths on one window is unacceptable in a 5‑star hotel. One of the two elevators was broken, forcing us to walk an absurd 150‑200 m to breakfast or dinner. The sofa bed was a cheap discount‑store sofa with the lowest recline at the head end, and the mattress pressed through the soft slats of the frame. Breakfast and dinner with half‑board were also an issue—acceptable for 3 stars, insufficient for 5 stars, with no juices offered and hot food often cold. Walking through the hotel corridors, about a quarter of the door frames were defective. Overall, price/value is beneath dignity.
