“Chic and family friendly in a lovely setting”
The place is small but set in a lovely garden with a secure perimeter and gated access. It’s not a hotel per se, more than a B&B. The house is clean and well kept, with staff available some of the time. We were handed a bunch of keys at check‑in: one for the compound gate, one for the property, and one for the room. Our room was wood‑lined but the window faced an external wall a metre or so away. The wooden frame and the slightly ill‑fitting window let a few drops of water run onto the sill during a heavy storm. It doesn’t feel like a modern pristine hotel, but it was comfortable and friendly. The garden features a large lawn shaded by mature trees, flower borders, paths and perimeters. Children can play on the lawn with a small climbing frame, swing and lawn games, making it an ideal, safe spot for families who don’t want to be bored by hotel facilities. Breakfast was very good, with fruit, bacon and eggs (typical Thai hotel style hotdog/ham style) and shredded vegetables. A hot‑water dispenser with instant coffee was available, served quickly by a friendly staff member who was there during the day. Secure covered parking next to the house was easy to find. The window fit wasn’t a problem for temperature, but the rain getting in (just a few drops) worried me since the only electrical outlet was close by. The bathroom was functional and clean, but the sealing around the shower area was slightly poorly repaired. The property is homely, functional, pretty and nicely set out and located but would not suit someone looking for a modern luxury hotel. None of this detracted from it for us and it suited us perfectly. We stayed in low season, which explains the heavy rain at night, and it was very quiet. We didn’t have children, but this would suit a young family very well; with lots of activities for children on the lawn it may not be as quiet.
