“This hotel has a lot of potential but needs significantly more attention to upkeep and maintenance.”
The property itself has a lot of potential, with a beautiful historic/luxury vibe, and our room offered a nice view. The bed was clean, we liked the Apple TV, and the bedding felt luxurious. The staff member who checked us out was pleasant. Breakfast was decent, not spectacular, but we ate everything happily. The carpet was very worn, there were visible paint touch‑ups, and the fireplace hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The sitting‑area furniture was disappointing: one chair had a big leather tear exposing foam, another was badly sunken and uncomfortable, making it hard to relax. Bathroom maintenance issues were also present: the rain shower looked nice, but several small sprayers were missing, so water just poured out; the Jacuzzi jets looked dirty, so we didn’t feel safe using it. The AC unit was extremely loud and kept us awake at night. The bed was okay, but the box spring made it hard to settle. We slept somewhat, but it wasn’t the restful night we hoped for. It was our first anniversary; we expected no elaborate celebration, but there was no acknowledgment of the occasion, and the service felt neither warm nor attentive. When we asked about changing rooms, we were first told it would cost $1,000, and later around 9:30 pm we were offered the hotel’s only other available room for $200. We declined because the extra amenities didn’t justify the upgrade, and we just wanted to rest. It’s a shame, because this could be a lovely luxury property, but instead we kept being reminded of its age and wear.
