“Horrifying smell”
The location was fine. When we arrived cameras alerted a front‑desk to our arrival and people over the speaker greeted us. We hadn't noticed we needed to fill out a form online, so we got on that right away in the front lobby. It is self‑check‑in which is fine. However it wasn't very professional since we kept hearing laughter and chatter over the speaker. It was strange as it sounded like it was trying to be quietened down. This made us feel quite uncomfortable but we did everything and got our room card and continued to be polite. When we opened the door to the room a horrifying smell hit us along with intense heat. The air‑con had been set to warm in summer? The stench was incredibly pungent we opened a window but the smell was absolutely not disappearing anytime soon. We had to exit the room quickly so we went to the roof to clear the stink from ourselves. It was impossible to stay in the room and tried to request a cancellation and complained on our booking online. Since we had been travelling for quite a number of hours and it was later in the evening. The idea of approaching the front desk again with the unprofessional tittering, sniggering laughter felt repugnant. We had no choice but to book and stay somewhere else, we ended up staying in a nearby Toyoko Inn which was much better. We have been refused a refund which is unsatisfactory. Certainly wont ever book one of these hotels ever again.
