Rock Solid Backpackers Rotorua

The room was really good, pretty large, everything worked properly and was clean. The bathroom was good and clean as well, and I appreciated the provided toiletries. I didn’t get to meet many staff members, but a few days before my stay I had to change my arrival time and make a late check‑in, and Dale was super nice and helpful with that, making the amendment seamless and easy! The only thing I would have liked was an extra oven or two in the kitchen or in the guest room, and maybe an Airfryer.

“It was a good place for a few days”

A great place for a few nights, very accommodating with a late check‑in. The walls are thin, so it can be a bit noisy, but that’s not the property’s fault—just some inconsiderate people.

“Good overall, great location”

I really liked the location; it’s very central and close to shops and cafés, and also near the Rotorua i‑Site, which is handy for tourist information, plus it serves as a stop for the inter‑regional coach service. The amenities in my room were nice and everything was clean. My experience was overall positive, but I did notice that the shower stall in the ensuite of the room I got was at least a foot higher than the floor, which could be a problem for people with mobility issues. There are safety signs and a step stool for getting in and out of the shower stall; however, I almost slipped but caught myself after a shower because of the need to step down, and the ensuite floor finish was slippery against my wet foot. I would suggest that the property management install anti‑slip materials, at least around the shower stall entry, to prevent any incidents.

“街中の便利なホステル”

The building has a slope up to the second floor, so you don’t have to carry a suitcase. To reach the third floor you need to climb a short set of stairs; there is no elevator. The bus stop from the airport is nearby, which is convenient. The staff were friendly, but the reception isn’t open 24 hours, so be careful if you have something to do at night. For car rentals, you can park around the hostel for free during the night and on weekends, but weekdays during the day incur a fee. The only downside is that sharing the kitchen with a group of young people can be quite chaotic.

“Great for a night stay lovely staff kind and helpful”

Great location right in the centre of the town, extremely helpful staff and comfortable beds. The only bad things were the noise from a small gap at the bottom of the doors and thin walls, but you get what you pay for 😁
