The staff were welcoming, the food tasty, and the scenery lovely, but I couldn’t find a bathroom—just a heads‑up if you need one.

I was offered a night in a tent or a bunk bed beneath the stars, so I picked the latter and slept better than expected. At first I worried about the scorpions that appeared after sunset, but I grew used to them. Fethi, the Bedouin host, cooked a delicious vegetarian couscous and traditional bread for breakfast. The host didn’t give me a tour of the campsite or explain basic things like where the “toilet” was, and after I arrived he left me alone. Paying 50€ for a bunk bed, dinner, and a very simple breakfast now feels a bit pricey.

Saber was extremely friendly and cheerful, and his positive vibe made the whole trip enjoyable. He knows a lot about the area, wildlife, and Sahara camping in general, so I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a truly authentic desert experience.
