“WiFi didn't work, host promised to fix, didn't, I asked for partial refund, host claimed wifi worked”
The location was close to the station. I asked the host, Victor, about the room's Wi-Fi connection; the room was small, but it's London. The internet wasn't working in the room, but it worked in the hall above the stairs, which was also the "kitchen": a microwave, some plates, knives and forks, and a kettle on a table in the tiny hall, with no chairs. So I had to put my computer on the microwave, taking up the narrow hall area and blocking the route to the shared bathroom to use the internet, as it wasn't working in my room. When I told him, he kindly agreed to install a wifi booster - I thought, great, we'd have two more days, so if he installed that today, we'd be good. He didn't install it that day, and when I asked the next day, he said he'd asked the provider to send him one. I suggested he buy one himself. He said he would, but didn't, so when I was checking out, I asked for a partial refund on the room because the wifi didn't work. Now he's listening; he enlisted the cleaner to check the Wi-Fi coverage in the room and promptly sent me a screenshot of the Wi-Fi speed to show me it was, in fact, my computer that was only picking up the shoddy internet in the hallway, not in the room. I asked why he hadn't sent the cleaner in at the beginning to test the Wi-Fi and whether it was related to my decision to ask for a partial refund. That question wasn't directly answered. However, I explained that whether the cleaner took the screenshot was irrelevant to me, since I'd already left and mentioned the internet problem to him multiple times, and he committed to fixing it. Anyway, he didn't offer any gesture for the wifi not working; the kitchen was also a hallway. The host really left a bad taste in my mouth; super annoying. Not recommended if you need internet to use your computer for something important. Mobile signal was also very poor in that room for some reason
