Located in Colchester, the Elephants Footprint Lodge features outdoor rock waterfall showers and rooms overlooking the pool and garden. Customised safaris to Addo Elephant Park, 3 km away, can be arranged. Spacious African-style rooms include a partly-enclosed bathroom, cotton linen, and tea/coffee facilities. The lodge offers continental or full English breakfast, á la carte lunch, and private dining in the wine cellar.

The people were friendly, and from outside it looked like a nice lodge. It was near Addo Elephant Park and Schotia Park. The rooms smelled bad and the bed was concrete. The buffet was sparse but the taste was fine.

The staff were super friendly and the food was very good; the location right next to the park was convenient and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, the toilet had a bad smell, probably from rain and the septic tank.

Overall, this place is great and sits on the south side of Addo National Park, with everything you need within a short walk. The staff are especially commendable, always putting the guest’s well‑being first. In the first room we couldn’t settle because a bat was hanging in the room, plus there were geckos and insects that didn’t bother us much, but the bat was a real nuisance. The second room we were offered instead was infested with millions of tiny beetles. Still, we should note that we were repeatedly given suitable alternatives, and in the end we got a room that was a category below what we had booked, but it was clean and allowed us to relax.

We were greeted very warmly by the host. The lodge is beautifully situated and creates a pleasant atmosphere. The rooms are well equipped and spacious. The outdoor shower is especially worth mentioning. The property is very well maintained. The food was excellent, and the host gave us useful tips for our stay. Thank you for a wonderful time.
