“Warm on a summer night, but a good value”
The location in town was great, the room was basic but clean and offered good value, but the tiny window opening in the front room made it warm at night; the fan helped, as other reviews had mentioned.
“Lovely stay, the staff were all very friendly.”
My room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated, yet the bathroom was very shabby and I was on the 2nd floor with no lift.
“One friendly, characterful night conveniently in the heart of old Poole”
I was greeted warmly by the Manager, who stayed on duty all evening and during breakfast, always cheerful. He quickly supplied a missing set of towels and explained that some dinner items were unavailable because the menu was changing, yet the dinner itself was very good and the breakfast excellent. The stairs area and ensuite felt a bit worn, but still clean and acceptable; the ensuite door didn’t close properly and had no lock. My room was 5.
The continental breakfast was good with a nice variety of options.
“Antelope”
We stayed here on our first visit to Poole, and it was a pleasant visit. Our room was one of the older rooms, as the others were currently getting refurbed, and it was nice. Dated but spacious, and the bed was REALLY comfy. We didn't get to have dinner here but we did have breakfast, and the food was stunning. The sourdough they provided was out of this world! Everything was fresh and served promptly. The real highlights for this location was the staff, they were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. This place is also pet friendly. The location was both a blessing and a curse. It was great that it's a stones throw away from the Quay. However, if you plan to stay here, bring ear plugs!!! There was zero sound proofing from the loud music in the beer garden (this stops at 11pm), or their noisy neighbours (their entertainment goes on until 1.30am). This would unfortunately put me off from staying here again, as each night was sleepless
