Tasman Bay Backpackers in Nelson offers free unlimited Wi‑Fi, a cozy lounge with a log fire, and heaters in all rooms. Guests enjoy nightly free hot chocolate pudding and ice cream, a hammock garden, shared kitchen, coin‑laundry, luggage storage, and a library. Private or shared rooms, some en‑suite, and free garden BBQs. Located ten minutes from Nelson city centre and the bus depot.

The place is clean, safe, and conveniently located if you have a car, with good on‑site parking, and my double/en‑suite room felt private. Every evening they served chocolate pudding, which was a nice touch. The downside is that the hostel is full of slovenly, monosyllabic, uncommunicative youth, but since it’s a backpacker spot, that’s expected.

The hostel is in a quiet spot, modern and clean. The staff are very friendly, and the chocolate with ice cream is amazing.

The room was comfortable, the shower large, and the backpacker vibe was nice with a small stove and chocolate pudding every night; the centre is a 15‑minute walk.

The relaxed, friendly banter and kitchen dining area were great, and the chocolate pudding was a bonus! It got noisy on Friday night, continuing a bit from the kitchen area.
