“We will remember our stay in Lille for all the right reasons..”

Everything was excellent – we felt genuinely cared for, the breakfast was superb, and the staff helped us with travel tips and directions. Nothing was lacking.

“Op zich een prima b&b maar met een bittere nasmaak”

The location was perfect, with a bus stop opposite the B&B that takes you straight into the city. The bathroom was tiny, the bed was hard, and the host’s reception was awful. We originally planned to arrive between 16.00 and 17.00, but circumstances pushed our arrival to around 21.00. She informed us of this only at about 07.00 the next morning. She claimed she had an appointment at 19.15 and told us to wait. We sent another update that the GPS said 20.45, but traffic delays pushed it to 21.15. When we reached the front door at 21.19 we received an unfriendly message via Booking. I called at 21.19 and the door opened immediately. We were treated as if we had no respect and that she could not honor her appointment. She also said she did not want to host Dutch guests and would report us to Booking. She claimed Dutch people leave rooms dirty and lack table manners, and she was completely unreasonable, even when we tried to show her the message on our phone that we had notified her of a late arrival and that traffic could be unpredictable. Because of the annual flea market we had no choice but to stay there, but we could have left immediately. We felt utterly unwelcome and were shocked at how irrationally she spoke to us with a raised voice. I have never experienced anything like this. Her website states check‑in times are between 17.00 and 21.30, so we were within that window. She had plenty of time to arrange key hand‑over, as we had already sent her a message at 06.49 via Booking. The next morning she pretended nothing had happened and served breakfast normally. Dutch people should not book here. She has already formed a judgment against Dutch guests. The market was fun, but this gave our weekend a sour taste.

“Heerlijk verblijf dicht bij het centrum van Lille.”

The room was lovely, the breakfast was great, and Bernadette’s welcome was very warm. The only downside was that the room felt a little warm.

The location was nice, and we had the room with garden view. There is a large bathroom and a separate toilet. Everything was thought out. There is no air‑conditioning, but there is a fan and window screens. The host is very kind and very thoughtful. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended. The bus stops very close and runs every 20 minutes. It costs 1,80 € per ride, one‑way. You buy a rechargeable card from the bus driver (cash only) and then top it up with a card. We also walked twice, about 4,4 km. The car can be parked right outside the door on the street.
