“Locație excelentă și facilități foarte bune, dar camerele au nevoie de modernizare”
Overall, I had a positive experience at Hyatt Regency Metropolitan Chongqing. The hotel enjoys an excellent location, the staff are generally helpful and welcoming, and the facilities, particularly the swimming pool, are a significant advantage. However, some aspects of the rooms and the breakfast experience fell short of my expectations for a five-star hotel. What I liked 1. Excellent location The location is undoubtedly one of the hotel's strongest assets. It is approximately a five-minute walk from Jiefangbei, one of Chongqing's main tourist and commercial areas, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. Another major advantage is the hotel's direct connection to the adjacent shopping mall. There are access points between the hotel and the mall on several floors, providing convenient access to shops, restaurants and additional leisure options. We discovered a traditional Chinese all-you-can-eat restaurant in the mall, offering an impressive variety of local specialities at very attractive prices. My wife and I spent almost two hours sampling different dishes. It was a memorable culinary experience and a wonderful bonus of the hotel's location. 2. Excellent facilities, especially the swimming pool One of the hotel's strongest points is the quality of its facilities, and the swimming pool deserves special mention. It is large, very well maintained and impressive in both size and appearance. It also matches the photographs and description on the hotel's official website very closely. I appreciated the fact that the facilities lived up to their presentation, without any unpleasant surprises. The swimming pool is a real highlight and an excellent place to relax after a day spent exploring Chongqing. It adds considerable value to the overall stay. Overall, the hotel's facilities are a genuine reason to consider staying here. 3. What could be improved 1. Dated furniture and room facilities The room was consistent with the photographs published on the hotel's website, so I cannot say that the presentation was misleading. Nevertheless, the furniture and some of the fittings looked rather dated, which was surprising for a five-star hotel. The bathroom was very spacious, but I was particularly surprised to find a conventional toilet seat rather than a smart, heated model with a self-cleaning function, as I had encountered in other hotels in China. This may seem like a minor detail, but given the level of technology found in many other properties in the country, I expected more. Overall, the room was functional and the bathroom generously sized, but the furniture and equipment lacked the modern feel I would expect from a contemporary five-star property. 2. Disappointing view and poor window insulation The view from the room was not particularly attractive. It faced an area where a building under construction dominated the view, near the Jiefangbei district. More importantly, the window insulation was poor. Cold air could be felt coming in around the window frames, affecting the room's thermal comfort. I tried to minimise the discomfort by keeping the curtains fully closed, but this was hardly an ideal solution. I believe the window frames and thermal insulation should be checked and improved. 3. Breakfast: plenty of choice, but disappointing flavours At first glance, the breakfast buffet appears abundant, with a wide selection of products and a strong emphasis on local Chinese cuisine. However, the variety did not translate into the culinary experience I had expected. Personally, I was not particularly impressed by the taste of the food. Having recently stayed at a hotel in Xi'an, where breakfast was a much more enjoyable experience, I noticed a clear difference. The dishes at that hotel seemed to be prepared with greater care and attention to flavour. 4
