“Good guides, disappointing stay”
It’s a family business and they know the area well. We enjoyed a great tour to the Bluefield tea estate and visited nice waterfalls. They helped us visit the Horton Plains and go to our next destination. Generally they’re very helpful. After we finally found the hotel, the building looked run‑down and there was no sign, and nobody was there. Calls went straight to voicemail. Because our driver asked around, we eventually found the owner’s brother. Apparently the owner and the contact person were in a mountain area for a funeral, so we couldn’t reach him, but his brother answered on the first try, which felt a bit suspicious. Inside, the room was dirty and the sheets weren’t clean. They promised to clean it while we did the tour. When we returned it was cleaner, but the new sheets still had glitter stains and looked like a quick wipe, not a proper clean. The breakfast we received was unsatisfactory: a dry sandwich and a muffin. While that was enough for the Horton Plains trip, it’s not a proper breakfast for a normal morning. We received many apologies and excuses, but in the end it wasn’t worth the price; we found better stays for a third of the money that were equally friendly and helpful. We feel sorry for the brother and the father because they tried to make up for it, but overall we were not happy with the hotel. It didn’t live up to the good reviews.
