The dining room was freezing on our first night. The food was average and ridiculously overpriced.

The views were incredible, the room was roomy and spotless, and the staff were genuinely professional; the breakfast was limited because it was cooked rather than a buffet (cheese only came as shredded cheddar when requested) and the same applied to dinner.

“Quirky, charming hotel”
The hotel was beautiful and quirky; the furniture was a bit worn, which added to the charm, and the room was a good size. It’s not far from Windermere lake side, about a 10 minute walk. We didn’t have room service, which was fine, and we weren’t sure if they top up teas, coffee, or empty bins, so we asked every morning—nothing major. The location is excellent, though the walk back up from the lake side is steep, so keep that in mind.
