“Liked the property, food could have been better.”
I spent **4 nights and 5 days** at Umaid Palace. The property is well kept, the vibe is pleasant, and the staff are polite and genuinely welcoming. The restaurant team, in particular, was attentive, listened to feedback, and seemed willing to help. Unfortunately, the food quality and consistency really hurt an otherwise good stay.
Specific problems: the boiled eggs at breakfast were black inside and seemed spoiled, so I had to return them; the curd was very runny, and even after I asked for a thicker portion, I was told it came from a large 10–12 litre container and only the top layer was thick, so nothing better could be served; the bananas and papaya at breakfast were somewhat raw and not good quality; on one morning, guests had to wait about **30 minutes** before breakfast actually started; most gravy dishes were overly rich and buttery, making them hard to enjoy; the parathas were consistently hard and too salty. What disappointed me most was that these issues were repeated over several days. The restaurant staff tried to address concerns whenever they were raised, but the improvements were either minimal or not sustained. With better attention to food quality, freshness, and execution, this property could provide an excellent overall experience. The hospitality and service deserve appreciation, but the food falls well below the standard one would expect from a hotel of this calibre.
