We arrived for a few days to celebrate our anniversary and emailed the manager the day before to ask if he could arrange champagne in the room, but he didn’t reply until the day after our anniversary, which was very disappointing; the staff seemed slightly unwelcoming and the room we stayed in was very small.

The room and bed were lovely, complete with a TV and bathroom, and breakfast was fantastic; the staff were friendly and parking was convenient, though the pillows felt a bit hard.

The location was perfect, the food and beer were good, the staff were excellent, and the shower was great, but the room was very small and basic, not worth £100 for a single; the bathroom was also very small and cramped, the room was in a separate building and quite isolated, there was no bedside table so we couldn’t reach the over‑bed lamp to turn it off.

The staff were exceptional, the property fantastic, and watching the badgers was amazing; I couldn’t stay longer because of work.
