Located in a large park on Lake Thun's shore, the Beatus Wellness & SPA Hotel in Merligen offers a salt-water outdoor pool, indoor pool, and alpine Mediterranean cuisine. Panoramic views of Lake Thun and the mountains are available from some rooms' balconies. Half-board includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, while the wellness area, sauna, and massages are complimentary for guests.

The outdoor pool, view, and dinner were good, but the morning buffet did not cater well to lactose intolerance and gluten allergy; there were some bread rolls and oat milk but no cakes, etc. Room service was a bit flippant: refilling the minibar and toilet paper.

The hotel impressed us in every way! The surroundings, the stylish ambiance, and the beautiful spa area provided perfect relaxation, and we were very satisfied with the room – it really had everything we needed. A minor downside was that parking was charged extra; it would have been nice if that were included in the price for a hotel of this caliber. All in all, it was a great time!

The spot was superb—quiet, with beautiful lake and mountain views, a dock right by the hotel for boat trips, comfy bedroom beds, a nice balcony and nearby trekking routes, even a cave excursion. On the downside, breakfasts and afternoon cakes were monotonous, the breakfast nook was small both in space and in the amount of food offered, the à‑la‑carte dinner (the only option) dragged on for 1.5‑2 hours each evening (though without extra entertainment it wasn’t a huge bother), there was no clear info when ordering extra or larger portions (one guest only heard about it by chance and staff never mentioned it later), and the jacuzzi tap leaked for five days without anyone noticing—a sign of lax room checks, even though it didn’t really bother us.
