We chose this place after reading other good reviews and it lived up to the hype ☺️ The room was simple but more than enough for a few nights. The highlight was the warm family who helped us arrange dinner on site. The homestay dinner was delicious, generous, and perfect after a long journey or safari 👍 The terrace view was amazing – we spotted rhinos, peacocks, and more on the first night. The only issue was a few ants and a tiny frog in the bathroom, but it didn’t bother us.

The people were super kind and the welcome friendly. We ate dinner there in the evening; they cooked a fantastic meal for us. We went on a safari with Hashan, who explained everything clearly in English. Book your safari with this stay! It’s right next to the park entrance and offers a great view of the rice fields. At the park entrance there’s a big lake where, if you’re lucky, you can also spot elephants.

Just 2 minutes from the national park entrance, walking along the lakeside path gives a lovely sunset view. The rice field outside the room looks beautiful, and you see various animals strolling in front of you. Thushara, the lady, cooks good Sri Lankan food. Even though her English is limited, she’s always friendly with a big smile.

The location is perfect for visiting Wilpattu Park, with a terrace view of rice fields and wonderful light at sunrise and sunset. The stay was crowned by excellent (and very generous!) Sri Lankan food, freshly prepared for us at absolutely honest prices. Thanks again for the hospitality!
