Located in central Malmö, the Best Western Hotel Royal is within a 5-minute walk of Lilla Torg and 300 meters from Malmö Central Station. The hotel features free Wi-Fi, a full breakfast buffet, and a bar serving beverages and light meals. Guest rooms include a minibar, work desk, and cable TV, with some uniquely decorated in a half-timbered 16th-century building, showcasing designer artwork and Swedish art glassware from Orrefors.

I was disappointed by a strong, unpleasant sewage smell in the room on the first day. It eased a bit after a few days of showering, but lingered throughout my stay. I mentioned the issue at checkout and was told they would address it.

The hotel was in a great spot, just a short walk to Malmö Arena for the concert.

The staff were very friendly, the beds comfortable, the amenities good, the breakfast tasty, and the location central. The sauna was broken, and even after a week it remained so; we stayed twice, once on the way out and once on the way back, and both times the rooms smelled of sewage in the toilets and felt stale for the price. The paint could use a fresh coat and the floor needs polishing. The shower curtain feels unhygienic and there’s no shelf in the shower. The room itself was okay.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing and complete. However, the rooms were a bit dark with little natural light.
