Vila Carmem

The room was spacious and cozy, with a clean, organized bathroom. The lodge sits right in the central part of Vila dos Remédios, close to restaurants and the Praia do Cachorro, so we walked a lot. Andreia was very attentive. Breakfast is served at a partner lodge five minutes away, and the coffee is excellent with a good selection, cakes, and the option to order omelette, couscous, tapioca, and eggs. The only downside was that the bed was not a double but two single beds joined together, which caused some discomfort.

The staff were attentive and very helpful, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was held at another lodge far away, the Wi‑Fi was weak, and the lodge was located at the back of a restaurant that was very noisy.

The breakfast was very good, the breakfast attendants were very friendly and attentive. The location is good.

The lodge’s location is the highlight—it’s in the medicine village, close to the town center and a few minutes’ walk from Praia do Cachorro, Praia do Meio, and Praia da Conceição. Andrea’s friendliness, who welcomed us and tidied the room every day, also stands out. Plus, the breakfast prepared by Dona Cris is sensational, with fresh tapioca and couscous, various cakes, fruit, etc. Despite the positives, the lodge doesn’t deserve a 4‑star rating on Booking. The double bed is actually two single beds together, which is uncomfortable for a couple. The shower in the room barely heated the water. And although the breakfast was delicious, it was served at another lodge a few minutes away.

The room was big and spotless, but the place is right behind a bar, so it’s noisy. The door is all glass, so you can’t get any privacy – other guests walk right past your room all the time. Breakfast isn’t served there; you have to walk five minutes to get it.
